Orvis Battenkill 6' Bamboo Rod - early 1940s!For sale here is a very rare Orvis 6' Battenkill bamboo rod from late 1942 (Wes Jordan era). Serial #0460. Two sections with two tips. There's been quite a bit of speculation that Pinky Gillum, who worked at Orvis for a couple of years in the early 40s, may have been involved with the production of this rod. George Halstead was also at Orvis during this time frame. Overall the rod is in excellent + and original condition. The rod weighs 2 3 8 oz. Size

Near mint condition with some extremely minor marks on the foot from being mounted on a rod

The box features two compartments for leaders or dry flies

The reel is loaded with Cortland 555 WF7F Rocket line and backing

2 1/4" diameter measured pillar to pillar

There are 39 hooks remaining in this box

The very nice Pyralin amber grasp

Mechanically the reel is still in good condition with a good RHW fixed check and some end play like most Uniqua-style reels
