FALKLAND ISLANDS 1946 Victory 1d dull violet and 3d blue SPECIMEN, SG164s/5sFalkland Islands 1946 Victory 1d dull violet and 3d blue, perforated 'SPECIMEN' (type D21), SG164s 5s. Fine and fresh mint examples with large part original gum. The Victory stamps were issued in 1946 to celebrate the return to peace at the end of World War II. The designs feature a view of the Thames River in London, with a view of the Parliament buildings in the distance. These "SPECIMEN" examples were used solely by postal administrations for
each stamp with a 'British Postal Museum and Archives' handstamp on reverse
